本学園の職域接種を受けられた皆様へ
モデルナ製ワクチンの異物混入について 第２報(重要)

本学園の職域接種で一部該当したモデルナ製ワクチンの異物混入について、大変なご迷惑とご心配をお掛けし申し訳ございません。2021年9月1日付で厚生労働省予防接種室から、武田薬品工業株式会社の異物調査結果について、以下のような報告があった旨、連絡がありましたので取り急ぎお知らせ致します。

一般的名称： コロナウイルス修飾ウリジンRNA ワクチン（SARS-CoV-2）
販売名： COVID-19 ワクチンモデルナ筋注
対象ロット：
Lot 3004667（約５万７千本）（約５７万回接種分）・・・本学接種該当
Lot 3004734（約５万２千本）（約５２万回接種分）
Lot 3004956（約５万４千本）（約５４万回接種分）
調査結果の概要
・ 混入した異物は、製造機器の破片（ステンレス）であること
・ ステンレスは、心臓の人工弁や金属製のステープルなどの医療機器に使用されて
おり、極めて小さな粒子状の金属が仮に筋肉内に注入された場合でも医療上のリスクが増大する可能性は低いこと

以上の調査結果の概要に加え、本学園の職域接種においては、バイアル(ワクチン瓶)及びシリンジ(注射筒)ともに、分注の際に異物の混入、色の変化、その他の異常はないかを目視で確実に点検しており、接種前に異常は認められていませんでした。
また、これまでに対象ロットにおいて本件に関連して発生したとみられる健康上の被害に関する報告も、現在のところ寄せられておりません。
一方、厚生労働省、武田薬品工業株式会社からも、「これまで本件に関連して発生したとみられる安全性上の懸念に関する報告はない」と聞いております。
なお、継続して厚生労働省及び武田薬品工業と緊密に連絡し、今後、お知らせすべき事項が生した場合には、速やかな情報開示と迅速な対応に努めてまいりますので、格段のご理解とご協力をお願い致します。

To all who have received the vaccination at school
Important: Second Report regarding contamination by a foreign substance in a vaccine manufactured by Moderna

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused by the contamination of some of the vaccines manufactured by Moderna that were administered at our school. We would like to inform you of the following report dated September 1, 2021.
Common name: Coronavirus-modified uridine RNA vaccine (SARS-CoV-2)
Trade Name: COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna Intramuscular Injection
Lot 3004667 (approx. 57,000 vials) (approx. 570,000 doses), the lot applying to our university
Lot 3004734 (approx. 52,000 vials) (approx. 520,000 doses)
Lot 3004956 (approx. 54,000 vials) (approx. 540,000 doses)
Summary of investigation results
The foreign substance in question was a fragment of manufacturing equipment (stainless steel). Stainless steel is used in medical devices such as artificial heart valves and metal staples. Even in the event of extremely small fragments of the metal having been injected into the muscle, it is unlikely to increase health risk.
In addition to the above summary of the results of the survey, both the vials (vaccine bottles) and syringes (injection tubes) were visually inspected for contamination with foreign substances, colors changes, and other abnormalities during dispensing, and no problems were found prior to vaccination.
In addition, there have been no reports of health problems believed to have occurred in relation to this case.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited have also informed us that they have not received any reports of any safety concerns that may have arisen in relation to this case.
We will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited to ensure prompt disclosure of information and prompt response in case there are any matters that require our attention.
