授業の改善と工夫

改善と工夫内容
(1) The Power-Up Tutorial in the SCIS continues to employ feedback procedures involving all participants: (1) students, (2) full-time tutors, and (3) part-time tutors. We are using these contributions to improve all aspects of the program, including the development of materials and pedagogy. To assist students' learning, topics in the first semester parallel those in the OC course. Topics in the second semester gradually become more academically challenging.
(2) In the Canadian Studies Basic Seminar, students learn about Canada by giving a number of mini-presentations. I am developing scaffolded procedures to help students at various ability levels succeed at giving presentations that become gradually more complex and challenging.
(3) The Special Seminar has emphasizes advanced communication skills. I am now working with seminar students to find, develop, and adapt appropriate materials and activities related to topics—such as real listening, self-disclosure, and nonverbal communication—leading toward an undergraduate thesis.I am developing report-writing materials and activities to support this.
(4) I continue to use point-of-view camcorders in OCS classes to help research individual factors in student engagement and provide insights for teacher development.I am currently focusing on the development of students interactional competence in collaborative dialogues.
